Editor · Technology journalist · Creator

Twenty-five years of making complicated technology make sense.

Magazines first, then websites, then YouTube. The medium kept changing; the job didn't: find out how a thing really works, decide whether it's worth your money, and explain it so you can act on it.

The story

One job, three mediums

I started in print, where an issue ships once and has to be right. I moved to the web, where an article is read by search engines before it's read by people. I ended up on YouTube, where a viewer decides in eight seconds whether you've earned the next eight minutes. In between I spent four years on the other side of the table, running press relations for one of the biggest names in cameras. Each move taught me something the previous one couldn't.
